ENOs...

The UNITE team has created a whole new parental demographic - Empty Nest Opportunists.

'Empty Nest Syndrome' is a thing of the past as parents whose children move away to university are fitter, richer and have a better love life than ever before. Time saved on domestic chores coupled with less to pay on food and utility bills has given these ENOs a new lease of life.

The Observer lead with an exclusive and the Daily Mail following with a splash on page three here http://tiny.cc/i2c2v. We’ve also had coverage on the Guardian online, the Femail section of the Daily Mail online, some op eds and it's flashing round twitter...

A Little Something to Get You Going

We’ve injected some pep up power into the energy drinks market with the launch of Loaded Stamina Shot to trade and business media. It’s an energy drink with a crucial difference; it contains an aphrodisiac that offers drinkers something extra under the hood.

Developed by nutraceuticals company, Podium Brands based in Edinburgh, it’s taking energy drinks into a whole new direction. The company has teamed up with IPC media, the publisher of iconic lad’s mag Loaded, to launch the shot.

We’ve launched the shot against..erm...stiff competition with research to show that there is strong consumer demand for energy drinks with extra functionality. Extensive coverage has been secured across national business, marketing, Scottish and trade press ahead of a big consumer push later this year.

Blessed is the Abbot

We’ve been helping to spearhead the renaissance in cask beer, by promoting Abbot Ale’s latest TV advertising campaign, featuring national treasure Brian Blessed.

Abbot sponsors Friday nights on Dave and the new ads feature Brian eulogising in his own unique thespian style about the quality and virtues of the beer.

We’ve been seeding the comical Abbot ads to media and seeking out journalist fans of the great man himself. Coverage has been secured in The Sun and key trade titles The Publican and The Morning Advertiser.

Those who can’t wait til Friday night to see booming Brian’s star turn can head to www.abbotale.co.uk for a sneak peak of the ads.

Brian's flyin' visit home

And so it's goodbye for another year.

The Edinburgh Film Festival has just drawn to a close.

We ensured that 'official airline' sponsors Cityjet got big bangs for their bucks.

Our VIP hacks lapped up the UK premiere of Toy Story 3, but the highlight was Hollywood star Brian Cox returning to his roots to have a plane named after him. Dundee Airport in the rain. Marvellous.

Not Ever

All stations go at our Glasgow office where we're helping out Rape Crisis Scotland

Scotland's first TV advert tackling prejudice against rape victims has just been broadcast.

With 23% of Scots believing a woman is partly responsible for a rape if she was drunk at the time of the attack, the press has gone into overdrive.

Important work for an important issue.

No April Fool...

Wow. Elspeth has joined our Board. Else joined us as an Account Manager in 2003 and has made it all the way to the top. We're really pleased as she's the first new addition to the senior team since Chairman Tim Adams joined the company back in 2007 so it's a big accolade. Well done Else...

Are Tourist Boards Like Buses?

Take one Tourist Board into the shower? Not us. Not long after St Lucia chose us to help them, Tourism Ireland have done the same! Anne is beside herself - her ideal job promoting the land of her birth!

It's a Tough Job...

...but someone has to do it. We've been appointed by the St Lucia Tourist Board to bring some of their fantastic itinerinaries to life in the UK press. There were many, many hands up when that pitch was announced... some of us are really jealous now...

Festival Magic!

This is our second year of working with the Department of Health on the HPV vaccination awareness campaign, targeting teenage girls. The team are hugely passionate about the work we’re doing.

This summer, the Arm Against Cervical Cancer team set up camp at legendary youth festivals, T4 on the Beach and Underage. We engaged with girls eligible for the vaccine, aged 12-18, to arm them with the facts.

Local nurses answered questions and then our team invited the girls to rummage through our dress-up box and strike their best pose. Our photo teams took instant pics for the girls to take away, in a photo wallet containing key information about the campaign, as a memento of their day.

We managed to chat to over 2,500 girls and took a grand total of 2,480 pics. Our activity caught the attention of BBC Slink - check out the fab video here! (http://j.mp/1blPzc)

Mingling with the Stars!

A lucky few from the London office will be hobnobbing with the Countess of Shaftesbury, Empress Stah, burlesque star Immodesty Blaize, Alice Temperley, Jodie Harsh and many more on the evening of the 25th May at the launch of Interview with a Shoe by wonderful artist Alice Instone (part of our Boutique offering) at Beach Blanket Babylon gallery in Shoreditch .

The team have been doing great media seeding and have secured Alice an interview on Woman's Hour this week, plus media interest from the likes of the FT, attendance from OK !, ES magazine and the Press Association. The paps will be out in force as well.

What has the Scottish office been up to?

The Scottish office has been a busy bunch, recently giving the kilt a 21st century makeover!

The kilt has been given a 21st century makeover by our Scotland office. They created the “Sholt” for those who can’t face being true Scotsmen and secured great levels of coverage to highlight the Homecoming Scottish Cup.

Combining shorts and the kilt, the “Sholt” lets the Tartan Army play footie without offending those with a sensitive disposition.

Miss Scotland and Scottish ladies football internationalist, Rhonda Jones, modelled the creation at The National Stadium at Hampden. The photocall caught the imagination of Sky Sports News, BBC, The Daily Record, The Daily Star and The Scotsmen among others, in advance of the semi-finals at the end of April.

Sorry to twitter on but...

Michael Litman - social media junkie and Nottingham Forest fan - joined the team as our Social Media Strategist.

Unusually, Michael popped onto our radar on Twitter so is the first person ever to join the company having been discovered on the web.

He's also a prolific and popular blogger so you can read all about the recruitment process and his other exploits at www.litmanlive.com.

30 Rock!

A memorable day for account manager Jessica Balls.....her 30th birthday and a romantic dinner with the man in her life, David. Office hot topic of the day was would he or wouldn't he?

Undeterred by her large happy birthday helium-filled balloon and oversized and flashing "30 today" badge, the lovely David very publicly dropped to one knee and popped the question. Huge congratulations to the future Mr and Mrs Chaplain.

Alice In Our Wonderland

The rather brilliant Alice Dalton has joined us as Head of Experiential Marketing.

After working on landmark campaigns for the likes of Red Bull and Nokia we're pleased as punch to have her here with us.

Alice lives and breathes experiential. From small events to summer festivals, you name it, she can do it. Get in touch if you'd like to meet her to discuss your experiential needs.

Another thing to flag...

Our Scottish team has been pulling out all the stops for the official St Andrew's Day celebrations.

They've escorted brave journalists up The Forth Road Bridge to hang the Scottish flag (check out the front page of today's Edinburgh Evening News).

The Balmoral Clock has been transformed into a saltire (check out The Scotsman).

And if that wasn't enough the team will be painting sheep blue tomorrow for a BBC online feature. Ee-eye, ee-eye oh!

More news from north of the border

Our Edinburgh office has just landed the Scottish account for the British Council.

With offices in over 110 countries, we’ll be making sure that Scotland is well plugged into this global network.

First stop India, to mark Scottish cultural links with the Calcutta Book Fair.

It's all kicking off!

Good news: thanks to the philanthropy of a certain Glaswegian fridge magnate, the Scottish Government is now sponsoring the Homecoming Scottish 2009 Cup.

Even better news: we’re managing the activation and exploitation. It’s countdown to the football final at Hampden next May.
